Anesthesia is the use of medicine or other methods to help prepare a patient for surgery, or to help patients who may find discomfort in medical diagnosis or undergoing treatment; it is the field of medicine involving the loss of consciousness. It is commonly used in surgery or during emergency medical care. These treatment methods can be separated by the amount of drugs used, as in local anesthesia and general anesthesia. With the advancement in medicine, anesthesia has seen an expansion of use in medical care and benefit to human health. Anesthesiology and pain are closely related; in today’s society, chronic pain is progresses rapidly. Pain leads to a decrease in a person’s quality of life, and the fight to control it will affect one’s daily life and work. In order to overcome and treat long-term chronic pain, there is a need for assistance of precise instruments to target specific areas for treatment; this is one of pain medicine’s biggest breakthroughs.
